Best of the West - Alexis Bittar

If you don’t already know, I am a Canadian girl working at Script Marketing based in Sydney, Australia. I’ve lived in Sydney for a year and a half, and am happy to call it my home. Immigrations however, feels a little bit differently.

I got a letter saying that I needed to apply for my student visa offshore, so I decided to come back to Canada to visit the family and fill in the paperwork.

As my flight had a 10 hour stopover in LA I decided that it would be the PERFECT opportunity to do a little sightseeing and shopping, instead of wandering through boring hum drum LAX. My absolutely FAVOURITE burb in LA is Abbot Kinney, just a stones throw away from crowded Venice Beach. It is the perfect example of the boho chic lifestyle that LA has to offer. Think a touch of Bondi’s elite eastern crew (yep, W necks!) but without all of the backpackers.

It would rude not to do a little shopping, and my favorite jewelry store in Venice is right on Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Alexis Bittar has some of the most inspirational jewelry I’ve seen. His selection of hand-carved lucite jewelry and semi-precious stones and metal pieces are truly one of a kind. Most recently his collection with Southwestern/ Navajo influence have stolen my heart. Check out a few of his pieces below – some seriously pretty stuff, as well as a few snapshots of Abbot Kinney itself.

Alexis Bittar on Abbot Kinney Boulevard. If you can't catch him there - drool here!
